The Finance Committee has continued the program to provide aid to congregations in the Diocese of Maine who do not feel they have adequate resources to carry out their current ministries. They want to support the ministries of congregations in financial need but are also charged with being good stewards of diocese’s financial resources.
The following changes to Strategic Congregational Support (SCS) were made for 2027:
- SCS will only be provided to congregations whose income is not able to meet the expenses required to support a priest in charge at 50-percent time or less.
- Congregations applying for SCS must be using their available endowments to support their budgets at a rate of at least five percent which is the same percentage the diocese uses to supplement its annual budget.
This application is designed to ask a few simple key questions and allow you to tell us what you need and why you need it.
Please answer with as much detail as possible to help us understand your congregational life and the ministries you are providing as well as the financial issues you are facing and why you are seeking congregational aid.
