Wondering if there is a diocesan grant available for your project? Please submit a one-page Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Grants Committee outlining your proposal.
In your letter, please include:
- The full name of the organization or congregation submitting the grant request.
- A brief background of the organization and its mission.
- The name and contact information (include a phone number) for a point person from the organization receiving the funds.
- The amount of funding being requested and an overview of the budget.
- A narrative description that includes the scope of the need and explanation of how your program addresses that need.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Salaries or amounts paid to independent contractors are not eligible for funding.
- Project-specific supplies will take precedence. While there can be a bit of extra cost to start a new program, there is limited funding for “indirect” costs.
- Please be sure to outline the part that your organization is taking financially. If you’re asking the diocese to take a risk in supporting a new idea, it’s important that you can demonstrate that you are doing the same.
- While there are times when ongoing projects need to apply for additional support, we look for how a project will be sustained when we consider grant requests.
- We cannot fund requests for money that has already been spent. It’s important that you make a request before you begin your project.
- Many times ideas emerge during Bishop visitations, meetings with diocesan staff, and often receive encouragement from a variety of diocesan representatives. It’s important to note, however, that encouragement is not meant to support for your application. All applications are evaluated equally and independently by the Grants Committee and voted upon by Diocesan Council.
