The 2022 Virtual Choir will present a world premiere performance of “O Wondrous Souls” on October 22. The Rev. Victoria Sirota, a recently retired priest and professionally trained musician now living in Searsmont, Maine has written this wonderful new hymn text for our convention. It is being sung to the tune Darwall’s 148th (“Ye Holy Angels Bright”).
This hymn can be used by churches in the Diocese of Maine on the Sunday after Convention, on November 20 during the congregation’s Dedication of Bicentennial Chalice and Paten Sets, or any other Sunday they wish! Download a bulletin-sized insert here.
The other hymn uses Beethoven’s great “Hymn to Joy” (Joyful, joyful, we adore thee) with a text written by John Core in 2006. Text for that hymn is here: ” All creation danced in answer when God’s voice first touched the air”.
