Monastic Orders and Christian Communities have existed in The Episcopal Church since the mid-19th century, but are largely unknown by Episcopalians. Episcopalians are invited to celebrate Religious Life this Sunday! Newly approved by General Convention, this day will be commemorated each 3rd Sunday of Epiphany. This observance focuses efforts to tell all Episcopalians about the monastic and Christian Communities and what they offer the church. These Communities teach about prayer, lead retreats, give spiritual direction, give guidance in writing and living a rule of life, make presentations about the spiritual journey, and provide spiritual friendship.
