Applications are open for the Young Adult Service Corps (YASC).
This is a program for young people ages 21-35 who are interested in exploring their faith by living and serving in communities around the world. There are lots of options for where and what a YASCer’s experience might be! It’s offered by our churchwide Office of Global Partnerships and is a long-standing, excellent program.
Apply directly here. Please reach out to Director of Faith Formation Emily Keniston if you have questions about the program. Applications are due January 31, 2025.
The Racial Justice Council in the Episcopal Diocese of Maine has partnered with the Racial Reconciliation Commission in The Episcopal Church in New Hampshire and through a Province I grant, has purchased one traveling Welcoming Library for each diocese. These libraries, curated and created by Portland non-profit I’m Your Neighbor Books, are visiting churches for month-long visits.
The library comes in two boxes and includes 30 books about immigrant and New American experiences, a wooden display, and resources for discussion and prayer. Please email Emily Keniston if you’d like to be put on the list to host Maine’s Welcoming Library!
“Formation” is the work of deepening our faith and learning about God, our faith tradition and ourselves throughout the course of our lives. And how we “form” Episcopalians is changing a lot as our churches and communities change! No matter what your connection to forming Christians is, you are welcome at these informal conversations where participants share ideas and updates, bring questions, and pray for one another. You can come to one, two or all conversations; they are held via Zoom on the third Thursday of each month from 10-11 am. Questions? Please be in touch with Emily Keniston .
Events for youth are for grades 5-12 of all abilities/disabilities, health, religions, sexual orientations, national origins, gender identities, citizenship statuses, etc. If you have special needs, let us know in advance so we can make things good for you.
June is Pride Month, and for three years our youth have led us in sharing God’s love for and with all people through marching in parades across the diocese.
The planning team will meet on Zoom 4/22, 5/6 and 5/20 from 6-7 p.m. to learn how to organize a community event, the history of LGBTQ+ ministries in The Episcopal Church and how advocacy for LGBTQ+ people is rooted in our faith.
Every three years, the Episcopal Church convenes an international high school youth event so “that the energy of the youth of the Episcopal Church can continue to be utilized in active ministry as members of the Body of Christ.” Stay tuned for info on the 2026 event!
