An exhibition of 12 collage portraits by artist Steven Parlato, “They Are Not Disposable” honors Black Americans whose lives were stolen by racial violence. These fantastic works of art humanize the victims made invisible or are only depicted through lurid reporting at the times of their deaths. This exhibition is a visual requiem for the dead and one man’s profoundly human response to the disempowerment many of us feel in confronting racism in our lives and society.
