We have all been in those uncomfortable…sometimes threatening…situations when we witness incidents that demand our intervention. How to do that safely and effectively? Please join us on Sunday, May 22 from 4-6pm to learn how to do so from an expert! We will gather in person and via Zoom. Please register for zoom participation at this link.  Free and open to all.

Our Presenter: Director of PAC, Maine, Clara Porter, MSW is a nationally certified instructor in Empowerment Self Defense with the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation and the Center for Anti-Violence Education with 20 years experience in the field. .

You will gain awareness and tools to safely and effectively intervene when you witness incidents from microaggressions to threats of harm based on race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration or housing status, and other factors. Learn methods for managing adrenalin, assessing situations, and engaging other bystanders all with the goal of increasing the safety of the person or group targeted. Explore the concepts of calling in vs. calling out and ways to assist that respect the autonomy and choices of the person(s) targeted.
