Here a listing of some of the services and events taking place in Maine on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday:

AUGUSTA:

Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church, 209 Eastern Avenue, Augusta, ME will be offering in-person services at 12:10 pm and 7:00 pm on Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023.  Both services will offer imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.  All are welcome!

BOOTHBAY HARBOR:

St. Columba’s Church, 32 Emery Ln., Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538,  will gather at 4 p.m. on February 22nd for the Ash Wednesday Liturgy with (optional) Imposition of Ashes and Holy Eucharist.  All are welcome!

BREWER:

St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church( 21 Holyoke St, Brewer, ME 04412) in Brewer will host a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 21 beginning at 6pm in the Shamrock Room of St. Pat’s.  Supper is free, but donations will go to Fresh Start Sober Living.

St. Pat’s will also host the East of the Penobscot Ministerium for Ash Wednesday Holy Eucharist and imposition of ashes at 6:30pm. Participating congregations: First United Methodist Churches of Brewer and Orrington, Lighthouse Church, East Orrington Congregational Church, Holden United Church of Christ, and North Brewer/Eddington United Methodist Church.

CAMDEN:

St. Thomas’ Church, 33 Chestnut St, Camden, ME 04843 will be having a service for Ash Wednesday at 9:30am  and 5:30pm at St. Thomas’ in Camden.

KENNEBUNK:

St. David’s Episcopal Church, 138 York Street, Kennebunk ME  04043

Shrove Tuesday:  February 21, 2023, Pancake Supper and Talent Show

Ash Wednesday: February 22, 2023

  • 7:30 AM Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes (Rite 1)
  • 12 noon Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes (Rite 2)
  • 4:00 PM Children’s Ash Wednesday Service
  • 7:00 PM Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes (Rite 2 with music)

RUMFORD:

Every year St. Barnabas Episcopal Church (71 Rumford Ave., Rumford, ME 04276) has ecumenical services during Lent with the Methodist and Congregational churches in the area .Ash Wednesday services will be held at the “green church” (UCC) in Mexico at 6PM.

SANFORD:

St. George’s Episcopal Church (3 Emerson St, Sanford, ME 04073) in Sanford, Maine

Our church is accessible to all and we have unisex bathrooms (LGBTQIA+ friendly).

WINDHAM:

St. Ann’s Episcopal Church 40 Windham Center Rd, Windham, ME 04062

Ashes to Go with the Evangelism Team at No. Windham Post Office (765 Roosevelt Trail). 11am-1pm

Wed. evening service at 7pm with distribution of Ashes and communion at St. Ann’s.

SKOWHEGAN:

All Saints Episcopal Church, 169 Malbons Mills Rd., Skowhegan

We are having a combined event, pancake supper, With live music and Mardi Gras flair, followed by imposition of ashes and compline.  Some fun mixers for children and adults!  Time frame: 6:00 – 7:45 pm.  Free.  169 Malbons Mills Rd.
