SUMMARY:Antonio Rocha's "A Slave Ship Called Malaga" in Portland
DESCRIPTION:Join St. Luke’s at 7 p.m. on June 10 in the Cathedral Nave with Portland Ovations to see artist Antonio Rocha in his performance of “A Slave Ship Called Malaga.” \nPortland Ovations describes Rocha’s work as the following: “The Malaga Ship Story is a tour de force performance by award-winning\, and world-renowned storyteller Antonio Rocha. Using his entire body and voice\, Antonio sings\, dances\, narrates\, and mimes his way through this poetically toned historical tale told from the perspective of the ship. The story vividly explores the reality and impact of the slave trade then and now through Antonio’s relationships to Maine and Brazil. Each performance is followed by a moderated conversation with a facilitator.” \nFor tickets\, additional information about the event\, and learning resources visit https://tinyurl.com/malagaperformance\, or the events page of St. Luke’s website.

SUMMARY:Diocesan Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:You are invited! \nWe all know that our Prayer Book provides a clear statement about the mission God gives us: to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ (p. 855). The Prayer Book states that we pursue this mission through prayer\, worship\, proclaiming the Gospel\, and promoting justice\, peace\, and love. \nHow can we set a course for engaging with God in this big\, bold mission? \nSince each of our faith communities is an outpost for proclaiming the Gospel\, how can we work together\, throughout our sixteen counties\, to say more about who we are\, why we’re here\, and what we’re doing about it? \nYour wisdom and perspective is necessary for us to set the course\, and we will have clearer answers to “who are we?” and “why are we here?” and “what are we doing about it?” for being together to listen and to speak. Will you be part of this work? \nEvery faith community’s voice is necessary for us to have a diocese-wide vision\, and therefore\, the Diocesan Council and Bishop Brown invite you to attend at least one of the listening sessions. \nFind details about joining the session in your email. \n
