SUMMARY:Co-Laboring in Ministry: Exploring the UMC-TEC Full Communion Proposal
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations will host a webinar overviewing the proposed full communion agreement between The Episcopal Church and the United Methodist Church (UMC)\, which will be considered at the 82nd General Convention in July 2027. \nThe webinar will be hosted by the Rev. Kirsten Guidero\, ecumenical and interreligious officer for The Episcopal Church. \nSpeakers Include \n\nThe Rt. Rev. Pastor Elías García\, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Colombia\nThe Rt. Rev. Betsey Monnot\, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa\nThe Rev. RJ Powell\, priest-in-charge at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and diocesan ecumenical and interreligious officer for the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee\nEugene Schlesinger\, assistant professor of religious studies at Santa Clara University\n\nThis online event will have Spanish interpretation and is open to all who are interested. Bishops\, deputation members\, and diocesan ecumenical and interreligious officers (DEIOs) are especially encouraged to attend. \nParticipants will learn about the meaning and potential benefits of the proposal\, as well as the UMC’s perspectives on theological\, social\, and polity matters.
