St. Luke's Cathedral: Lenten Book Group
Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman

Mondays during Lent starting February 22, (please read chapter 1 prior to first meeting) March 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2021 at 5 pm via Zoom

Click here to join Rev. Cn. Eleanor Prior in exploring this classic theological treatise. The acclaimed theologian and religious leader Howard Thurman (1900-1981) demonstrates how the Gospel may be read as a manual of resistance for the poor and disenfranchised. Jesus is a partner in the pain of the oppressed and the example of His life offers a solution to ending the descent into moral nihilism. Hatred does not empower--it decays. Only through self-love and love of one another can God's justice prevail. We have purchased 20 books, from Frugal Bookstore, a Black-owned bookstore in Roxbury, MA. You may purchase one for $14.40 at the office, or borrow one from the St. Luke’s library.
